5.3 (Fri) Street design



Streets are places where people meet. 

Therefore, it is necessary to have iconic landmarks that facilitate appointments between people.

We got the idea from a part of Hongdae Gyeongui-seon Book Street.


Therefore, we put stairs to sit around the landmarks (large sculptures or large trees) so that the street blends in with the surrounding shops and buildings. 

We made sure that the street blends in with the surrounding shops and buildings.



We also wanted to solve the problem of garbage, which harms the hygiene and aesthetics of the street.

However, we realized that people would not prefer to sit around a trash can,

We wanted to install them in the form of sculptures around corners or trees, which are areas where people often pass by.

Unlike regular trash cans, aesthetically pleasing shaped trash cans would fit in and be interesting to people.


Whyte's research shows that food trucks and retailers often operate around trees or on corners, and that they tend to do better business there.

and that they tend to be more profitable for businesses. Therefore, placing trash cans near trees or at corners will increase the collection rate.

5.3 Street design

 This is the street I designed, it's a pedestrian street There are very many trees on either side of the road, and flower beds of different shapes, benches in the middle of the flower beds and trees, and people can sit and enjoy flowers or rest and eat. There is a directional mark at the top right of the screen.There are cafes, restaurants, clothing stores, gift shops, etc. on the right side of the road, the door is facing south, so that the sun can fully shine into the store, people like to drink coffee and shopping in such stores.There are also public toilets that are convenient for shoppers. On the left side of the street are subway stations, office buildings, banks, and rental agencies, all of which are more practical shops and buildings.The people who work in the office building can easily meet the needs of renting, storing money and so on.Such buildings as office buildings generally have doors facing north and windows facing south, and can also have a lot of sunlight.
