W10.2 May 10 (Fri) extra credit

I chose a park as the location for my observations, as a park is usually a quiet, comfortable environment that provides an opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. People can relax in the park, stay away from work stress and enjoy peaceful moments. The park has a large flow of people every day. I can observe different types of people. These people may be of different age groups, social classes, cultural backgrounds and professional fields. They may show various behaviors in the park in different ways. and characteristics and responses to the environment.

Through observation and combined with White's theory, I found that the design of public space has a significant impact on human social life, as well as the interactive relationship between humans and the natural environment. White believes that public space should be designed to promote social interaction and provide people with opportunities for various social activities. According to my observation, the park has various social spaces and facilities, such as open squares, seats, outdoor cafes, etc. I observed many families, friends, and couples interacting in these areas. I think these facilities make it easier for people to gather. , communication and interaction. In addition, I observed that many families or friends would have picnics on the grass or sit on the grass to read and draw. Like White mentioned the importance of greenery and open space. Trees, grass, flowers, etc. in the park will create a comfortable and pleasant natural environment, helping people relax and relieve stress.

I think the process of observation is very interesting. The process of observing public spaces not only brings me fun and inspiration, but also allows me to enhance my understanding and recognition of the impact of public space design on human behavior, social interaction and the natural environment. It is a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
