Goffman's roles and election

There's a parliamentary election happening in South Korea this April. So, I'd like to discuss Goffman's concept of roles by using this event as an example.

I recently added an article about Byun Hee-jae to Wikipedia. He's a typical example of a "spotter" in Goffman's theory. With a political commentary career spanning almost 24 years, he possesses a deep understanding of politics. However, he doesn't run for elections himself so he is audience. Despite not being a candidate, he analyzes the political situation on popular YouTube channels to the audience.

In an election regular campaigners appear during performances (rallies, events). However, their roles are quite obvious to the audience, so they are non person.

Advertising experts who help candidates win, would be considered ss. They contribute significantly but remain unseen in the performance.

Finally, in our university example perfectly illustrates the "go-between" role. There is go between in our university. Professor Jung Jun Hee in our department is famous for his career as mediator in TV program <debate of 100 minutes>. He facilitate the communication of the 2 sides in the political debates.

Colleges are political party members. They are audience but they have a team membership. They are more close to the team than the normal voters.
